Mads refits the interior of his boat, Athena, focusing on constructing a custom shower pan and a watertight hatch to protect the technical compartment. He fabricates the shower pan using 10mm foam core, angling the pieces to ensure proper drainage toward a repurposed cockpit drain. To provide structural integrity for storing heavy items like batteries beneath the shower, he applies a sandwich construction of fiberglass and epoxy, using thicker glass on the top skin for impact resistance. He also builds a watertight hatch for the technical compartment using foam core and a rubber seal, requiring a 4mm flange for a secure fit. Additional projects include polishing stainless steel toe rails and the arch, though he notes that excessive heat during grinding causes the stainless steel to warp. He prepares for an upcoming Atlantic crossing by acquiring a Viking Rescue Pro life raft and a Sailrite sewing machine.
