The Cal Boats 2-46 is a 13.9-meter masthead sloop designed by C. William Lapworth and built by Jensen Marine from 1971 to 1975. This fin-keel, spade-rudder sailboat displaces 13,607 kg and has a 1.5-meter draft. It is a development of the earlier CAL 46 MS, featuring an engine room moved forward to midships, an aft cabin positioned further aft, and enlarged main salon and forward cabins. Lapworth considered the design his favorite, and 95 units were built. Aboard *Maverick*, a Cal Boats 2-46, the crew of GenXPats - The Sailing Advisor navigated the shallow Porto Stuck in Belize, encountering depths as low as 4.9 feet with the vessel's 5-foot draft.4:15 They reported improved crew management by sharing helm and bow watch duties. The crew also used an Airlock marine air purification system to combat mildew and odors in the cabin.9:47
