The Jeanneau Sun Legende 41 is a 12.4-meter masthead sloop designed by Doug Peterson and built by Jeanneau from 1984 to 1994. It features a fin keel with a spade rudder and displaces 7300 kg. The design is based on the 'Legende', a Jeanneau custom 1-ton prototype, and variants include Regate, Owners, and Team versions, with the similar Olympic Sea 42 built in Greece. Aboard *Ærevika*, a 1986 model, three Norwegian sailors prepared for a circumnavigation by installing an arch with solar panels, lithium batteries, a watermaker, AIS, a chartplotter, autopilot, and Starlink.2:17 They departed Sogndal, Norway, and sailed to Kjærløy, near Fredrikstad, before continuing south along the European coast, planning to reach Gran Canaria by November and cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean in December.3:11 Their route includes the Pacific, aiming for Australia within a year, with surfing remote Pacific breaks as a primary goal.3:55 The crew performed their own electrical installations over two weeks to facilitate troubleshooting at sea.7:53
