The William Hand ketch STEADFAST, a wooden vessel built in 1934 at the Wheeler Shipyard in Brooklyn, is undergoing extensive hull restoration.▶ 1:16 Originally hauled out in July 2024 for a minor bow repair, the project expanded to include a new stem, a new Purple Heart knee, and the replacement of 32 hull planks.▶ 2:46 Steven Uhthoff is currently caulking the seams of the wooden planking above the waterline by stuffing cotton into the gaps before applying BoatLife sealant.▶ 1:55 The ketch features Sitka spruce masts and wooden spreaders.▶ 3:13 The restoration process requires ongoing maintenance of scaffolding and access ladders to reach the hull for painting and recaulking.▶ 3:56 The vessel remains in a boatyard environment as the crew documents the final stages of the structural repairs.
