A planned quick haul-out at Red Rock Marina in Malaysia stretched to three weeks as Camille and Jesse worked through compounding repairs on their sailboat Stella.▶ 13:03 The rudder had a crack with water ingress; they cut it out, replaced the core with Xpando foam, glassed it, applied two coats of Primacon primer, then anti-foul.▶ 1:03 Yacht Supplies Malaysia (YSM) assisted with dropping the rudder and disconnecting the steering cables.▶ 1:38 The cutlass bearing — a custom Delrin unit sourced from Perth, Western Australia — was pressed in with mega epoxy, with friends holding position underneath while the shaft was slid back through and reconnected to the gearbox with a dripless seal and coupling.▶ 4:02 A Flexi Fold propeller went back on, anodes were refitted after drilling out an undersized bolt, and Prop 1 two-coat anti-foul was applied to the propeller and shaft in 35°C heat.▶ 8:49 The hull received two coats of primer and five coats of Micron 99 anti-foul.▶ 12:03 After splashdown, the drip seal and through-hulls showed no leaks, and engine speed at 1,800 rpm jumped from roughly 4.5 knots to nearly 6 knots.▶ 15:10 Fresh anti-foul and a correctly fitted cutlass bearing together recovered nearly two knots of boat speed under engine.▶ 15:16
