The J Boats J/111 is a 2010-present fractional sloop designed by Alan Johnstone, built by J Boats, and characterized by its fin with bulb and spade rudder hull. With an LOA of 11.1 meters, a beam of 3.3 meters, and a displacement of 4250 kg, it is a fast, sporty boat. Peter Gustafsson campaigned a J/111 in international offshore regattas, including the Fastnet Race, Middle Sea Race, and Aegean 600, as part of a 15-year racing campaign.4:41 Gustafsson noted that the J/111 struggled to rate competitively under established handicaps, leading him to transition to a J/99 for double-handed offshore racing.4:44 The J/111 is among the high-performance vessels that participate in races like the Chicago to Mackinac Island sailboat race.
