Adam and Luke sail their Prout Ltd. Snowgoose 37 Elite catamaran, Checkers, 65 miles south from Nelson on Australia's east coast to Pittwater — the anchorage where they last left their previous boat, Atlas, a Rival 34, nearly ten months earlier.1:56 The passage runs overnight with a north-north-east breeze building to 20–25 knots before easing; they anchor in 1.4 meters over sand and seagrass at Pittwater just before midnight.12:17 En route they observe two large ships drifting south on the Great Eastern Current off Newcastle at 2.3 knots.6:23 The following day, patron Terence drives them to Lake Macquarie to meet Atlas's new owner, Chris, who sailed her up from Pittwater.15:37 Aboard Atlas, they find the boat unchanged — their food, shampoo, and personal items still in place — but both describe the experience as surreal: the boat felt like an empty shell rather than home.21:08 Chris is retired-bound, plans to cruise on Atlas within two years, and reports she sails beautifully.21:31 Adam and Luke reflect that switching from a monohull to the catamaran, a decision they feared would hurt the channel, proved the best move they ever made.14:39
