The Vindo 50 is a masthead sloop with a long keel, designed by Carl Andersson and built by Vindo Marin AB since 1974. It measures 10.7 meters LOA, with a 3.1-meter beam, 1.6-meter draft, and 5207 kg displacement; a ketch variant is also available. In 1983, explorer Erling Kagge and three friends sailed a Vindo 50 to the Caribbean and back, an experience he described as formative despite poor preparation.1:22 Kagge advocates for smaller, simpler sailboats like the Vindo 50 to maintain a direct connection with nature, arguing that excessive technology can distance sailors from the environment.15:56
