He sails the inlet under jib alone to maintain a steady 4-knot speed and avoid jibing in the narrow, steep-sided channel. On the return trip, he transits at high water, noting that the increased width and lack of current make the passage significantly easier. The journey includes a hike to examine horizontal rock formations of unknown origin. Between sailing segments, Goolden practices a fiddle crafted by Daniel Graham from timber offcuts salvaged during the Tally Ho restoration.
