The C&C Yachts 35-1(REDWING 35) is a Masthead Sloop designed by Cuthbertson, Cassian, and C&C Design, built from 1969 to 1973. Originally named the REDWING 35 and built by Hinterhoeller Ltd., it became the C&C 35 after Hinterhoeller merged with C&C Yachts. The Mk I features a solid glass hull with a balsa-cored deck, a scimitar-shaped rudder, and an integral spray rail on the cabin top.8:53 The Mk II, introduced in 1973, incorporated a conventional partially balanced spade rudder, a raised sheer, and a T-shaped cockpit. A total of 351 C&C 35s were built, with the Mk II production ending in 1975. The C&C 35, with a displacement of 4762 kg, is considered capable of Caribbean passages, though heavier vessels offer more comfort in varied seas.2:46 Upgrading a C&C 35 Mk II for offshore sailing requires reinforcing chain plates and standing rigging, installing backing plates for deck hardware, and strengthening the rudder system.1:45 Crews often prioritize slab reefing over in-mast furling for offshore reliability and ensure the boat carries storm sails.15:07
