Because the bowsprit angle is aluminum, he marks hole locations with a Sharpie, uses a spring-loaded center punch to dimple the metal and keep the drill bit centered, then drills and bolts both chocks through with an impact gun. The result is a straight, protected lead for the anchor snubber that eliminates the need for emergency chafe wraps. Fitting chocks directly to a bowsprit angle is a faster and more reliable chafe solution than wrapping the line after the fact.
