Pioli, the host of the Nautic Pioli channel, began his maritime career at age 13 in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, working as a deckhand on the tourist vessel El Galeón de Oro.▶ 1:05 He later spent five years as a crew member on the 33-metre Finnish-flagged dive training vessel Kulkuri, where he gained experience in celestial navigation and vessel maintenance.▶ 4:33 After pursuing formal nautical studies at age 18, he worked professionally on oceanographic research vessels, tuna fishing boats in the Pacific, and oil tankers.▶ 8:03 Throughout his career, Pioli owned several vessels, including a 19-foot motorboat named Consentida, an Intermarine Z29 that completed a transit from Venezuela to Miami, and a 26-foot steel-hulled sailboat named Adrenaline.▶ 9:55 After moving to Spain, he purchased and refitted a 6-metre Dufour Yachts T6, which he renamed Mochima in honour of the Venezuelan national park.▶ 10:36 He performed extensive maintenance on the Dufour, including electrical system upgrades, hull polishing, and antifouling, before selling the boat to accommodate his family.▶ 11:28
