The Valiant Yachts 50 is a Robert H. Perry-designed cutter, built by Valiant Yachts from 1994 to 2011, based on the Valiant 47 hull but with a bowsprit and a mast moved 13 inches forward. It has a fin keel with a rudder on a skeg, measures 15.4 meters LOA, 4.2 meters beam, and 1.9 meters draft, displacing 16,102 kg. A shoal keel option with a 5.5-foot draft was available. A 2002 Valiant 50 toured by The Lazy Geckos ™ at the Southern California Boat Show featured a custom interior with a single head, emphasizing expanded living space.1:31 The show itself accommodated deep-draft vessels, and representatives for the ARC Pacific rally outlined safety requirements for participants, including AIS transponders and life rafts.8:38
