Ce que couvre cette vidéo
Sven Yrvind constructs a wooden hatch cover for his boat, installing gaskets and a deflector to ensure a watertight seal. He utilizes two wooden cleats, originally intended for rope splicing, to secure the assembly.
The narrative shifts to 1961, when Yrvind traveled from Stockholm to Serbia, a small town in northern Greece, to serve as a voluntary relief worker. Lacking funds, he hitchhiked across Europe, sleeping in a custom-made, one-by-two-meter polyester-reinforced PVC bivouac sack. He survived temperatures as low as minus 18 degrees Celsius in Munich before reaching Brindisi, Italy. A ferry crossing to Patras, Greece, involved navigating a severe storm that forced the vessel to seek shelter behind the Corfu islands. Upon arriving in post-civil war Serbia, he encountered a region devastated by conflict, lacking electricity and basic infrastructure. He lived among local families, observing traditional customs such as the preparation of a dowry, known as a *prika*, and the transition toward universal literacy for the younger generation.
