The Swan 36 is a masthead sloop designed by Sparkman, Stephens, and Olle Enderlein, built by Nautor from 1967 to 1970. It was the first 'Swan' model, based on the 1965 GAIA CLASS design by S&S, with Enderlein designing the interior. The boat measures 10.89 meters LOA, with a 2.95-meter beam, 1.85-meter draft, and displaces 6486 kg. Originally designed to the RORC handicap rule, its rig was later modified to rate more favorably under the IOR. The GAIA CLASS, a variant, saw 19 boats built by Benello of Italy. The Swan 36 is distinct from the Biscay 36, a different model sailed by Louis Robein in the 2026 Golden Globe Race.4:05
