Lash the furled headsail with extra lines, stow the tender on deck, and tightly wrap biminis into a compact, rigid cylinder to eliminate windage. Manage inexperienced crew by assigning specific tasks, such as monitoring the depth sounder or watching for dragging, to replace panic with purpose. In extreme emergencies, attach the bitter end of the anchor chain to the boat with a rope rather than a shackle, allowing for an immediate emergency release by cutting the line.
