What this video covers

After arriving in Savu Savu, Fiji, the crew of a cruising yacht manages mainsail chafe caused by contact with the standing rigging during their passage. The mainsail sustained pinhole damage to a batten pocket from rubbing against the shroud. To prevent further wear, they install two 5.8-meter lengths of plastic pipe over the standing rigging to act as chafe guards, allowing the sail to roll against the pipe rather than the stainless steel wire. They also apply patches to the damaged batten pocket using dingy cement, though they note that stitching would be a more permanent repair.

While clearing customs in Savu Savu, the crew explores the local market and bus station, noting the availability of fresh bread and affordable local meals. They subsequently sail 30 miles to Coro Island, anchoring off a resort. Finding the existing moorings in poor condition, they deploy a stern anchor with additional chain and rode for security. The crew reports high humidity and temperatures, noting the need for frequent bedding washes.
