What this video covers

Jon repairs the forward anchor locker bulkhead on his boat, *Antidote*, to ensure structural integrity and watertightness. He fabricates a new bulkhead from two layers of one-inch plywood, reinforced with 1708 fiberglass cloth on both sides. After consulting with naval architect Jim Antrim, he confirms the design requires no additional bracing. To prepare the hull, he removes residual gel coat using a four-inch nylon wire brush and a custom-arrived six-inch version mounted on a bolt. He uses a five-to-one low-viscosity epoxy from AkzoNobel, applying it with a V-notch trowel to bond the bulkhead to the hull. Because ambient temperatures dropped to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, he uses space heaters and fans to maintain a 15-degree temperature differential inside the boat, monitoring the cure with a FLIR infrared camera. He improves his workflow by calculating epoxy ratios based on the weight of the fiberglass cloth to ensure full saturation without waste.
