It features a fin keel with a skeg-hung rudder, measures 11.8 meters LOA, has a 3.8-meter beam, 1.9-meter draft, and displaces 9999 kg. The model was produced in two versions: the MK I (1991–1994, 54 units) and the MK II (1994–2003, 154 units), with the MK II extending the hull to 12.22 meters and incorporating a bathing platform. The Hallberg-Rassy 39, along with the Hallberg-Rassy 41 and Najad 390, is noted for its high-quality Swedish joinery and modified fin keel, making it a suitable option for offshore sailing.
