The Hunter Marine 31 is a 9.6-meter cruising sailboat designed by Cortland Steck and built by Hunter Marine from 1983 to 1987, featuring a B&R rig and a fin keel with a spade rudder. Its 3.3-meter beam and 4399 kg displacement prioritize interior volume and ease of handling for families. Aboard *Sailing Nomadika*, a 1986 model features a galley with a three-burner stove and oven, a top-loading fridge-freezer, and custom teak paneling. The main salon's settee converts to a primary berth, complemented by a V-berth and an aft quarter berth. The owners use a portable dehumidifier, a Dry-Z-Air moisture absorber, and two electric heaters for winter living in Canada, while a manual Jabsco toilet serves the head. Storage is under benches and in hanging lockers, with packing cubes used to manage moisture. The crew uses separate berths for remote work and leisure, and a sun lamp compensates for dim interior lighting. Hunter Marine, known for high-volume production, faced criticism for chain plate corrosion and sluggish performance in heavy seas, despite winning awards.
