The LaserPerformance 49er is a 4.9-meter high-performance skiff designed by Julian Bethwaite, built by LaserPerformance, and has been an Olympic class since 2002. This fractional sloop features a centerboard hull, a 1.9-meter beam, a 1.5-meter draft, and displaces 122 kg. Its beam with wings removed measures 5.58 feet. Norwegian Olympic sailing candidates are expected to contend for medals in the 49er and 49erFX classes.15:51 The Kongelig Norsk Seilforening (KNS) supports these athletes, with Eivind Melleby coaching the Olympic program for classes including the 49er FX.19:55 Norway's national sailing team includes a 49er crew ranked 10–15 globally, building toward the 2028 Olympics.27:33
