The Fastback 30 is a 9.3-meter masthead sloop catamaran designed by John Gross and built by Fastback Catamarans, featuring twin keels and a daggerboard in the starboard hull. Aboard Hashtag Sal, sailor Barô Pado raced a Fastback 30 in the Refeno regatta, where the mainsail failed due to a seam rupture during a jibe in heavy winds.23:23 The crew spent 40 minutes repairing the sail and used another catamaran to relay communications to the race committee after their own VHF signal failed.24:02 Pado, a sailing instructor, advocates for gaining offshore experience on smaller boats like the Fastback 30 before attempting larger vessels.14:12
