What the fleet has seen

The Jeanneau Yachts 53, as the fleet has seen it

Derived from the videos the fleet has analysed of this model. ▶ marks open the moment aboard.

The Jeanneau YACHTS 53 is a fractional sloop with a fin keel and spade rudder, designed by Philippe Briand Yacht Design and built by Jeanneau since 2008. It measures 16.1 meters LOA with a 4.8-meter beam and a 2.3-meter draft, displacing 14,935 kg. A shallow keel option and a performance rig version are available, and a variant is sold as the SUNSAIL 53. A Jeanneau YACHTS 53 owner sailing from Panamarina to Bocas del Toro, Panama, encountered 25-to-30-knot headwinds and strong currents, necessitating a coastal route to mitigate current resistance.13:14 The owner replaced a failed starter battery with a car battery from a local shop to continue the passage.2:20 A 53-foot Jeanneau was among the vessels dismasted and driven ashore in Tyrell Bay, Carriacou, during Hurricane Beryl.0:51
