The Beneteau Oceanis 42 Cc, also known as the Beneteau 42 CC, is a cutter-rigged sailboat with a wing keel, designed by Groupe Finot and built by Beneteau from 2003 to the present. It measures 13.23 m LOA, with a 3.91 m beam, 1.80 m draft, and 9002 kg displacement. Aboard *Flight Level Zero*, a 2002 model named *SVR Nautical* underwent a comprehensive refit, including replacing standing rigging, installing a new main sail and 140% Genoa, and upgrading the electrical system with LED lights and a Vesper Cortex VHF radio with integrated AIS.watch The owners also reupholstered interior cushions, removed the oversized salon table for engine access, and replaced all 14 Lewmar port lights to address leaks.1:50 Exterior modifications included new canvas, stainless steel Dorade vents, side-deck handholds, and a custom Garhauer Marine davit system for a Highfield 290 dinghy.13:20 The crew of *keeldragger* sailed a Beneteau Oceanis 42 Cc 32.2 nautical miles from White Cove, Catalina Island, to Pyramid Cove, San Clemente Island, motor-sailing in light winds and using a Hydrovane self-steering system to maintain a 6-knot speed.21:01 The Hydrovane effectively managed steering in light wind conditions when the traveler was adjusted to balance weather helm.30:04 During a delivery from Ensenada, Mexico, to San Pedro, California, the crew of *keeldragger* encountered a jammed self-tailing winch and experienced VHF radio and AIS signal failures, necessitating a handheld VHF radio for communication.watch
