A Hallberg-Rassy 46, 25 years old but fully equipped for bluewater sailing, was delivered across the North Sea to Bergen, Norway. Departure timing required careful planning to thread between two low-pressure systems tracking over the UK. The crew sailed past the White Cliffs of Dover before deteriorating weather prompted a decision to hug the coast and wait for strong winds to pass. Once conditions improved, following seas and a good breeze pushed the boat to around 8 knots. Thirty knots of wind downwind made for fast, memorable sailing, and dolphins joined the boat on the bow during the passage. The crew noted the scenery on arrival at Bergen as a highlight. Cold conditions throughout, but the boat performed well and the crew rated the trip as a success.
