What this video covers
A public boat auction held on June 29, 2024, in Long Beach, California, featured several sailboats, powerboats, and small craft, including a Catalina 30 and a Catalina 25.0:31 Many vessels listed for auction carried significant tax liens, which buyers must satisfy before the state will register the boat.15:03 Auction officials explicitly noted these lien amounts on the bidding list to warn potential purchasers of the total financial obligation beyond the winning bid.15:40 While some boats, such as a large powerboat, attracted competitive bidding despite high liens, other sailboats failed to receive opening bids of $400.25:02 The auction process requires participants to register, sign paperwork, and receive a bidder number before participating.20:20 Following the vessel auction, the event concluded with a sale of kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards.28:37 Prospective buyers should verify the existence of outstanding liens on any auction vessel, as these debts remain attached to the boat regardless of the purchase price.16:18
