Reality completes an 18-mile, 3-hour motoring passage along the Turkish coast to Kalkan, running under engine in flat calm with a favorable tidal push adding roughly one knot. The coastline between Butterfly Valley and Kalkan features high mountains, sand dunes, a five-kilometre beach, and Roman and Greek ruins including an amphitheater; anchoring off the beach is restricted due to reported military training use in summer. The crew anchors in Kalkan Bay south of Kalkan Marina, noting the bay splits into two sections, then tenders into the marina for food and drinks. At anchor that evening, 26 knots of wind builds and Reality swings to face seaward, leaving them the only boat anchored out.
