What this video covers

Thilo and his crew construct a makeshift raft from bamboo found in a jungle river valley in Puerto Rico.Watch They select medium-aged bamboo stalks for the hull, prioritizing pieces that remain buoyant and structurally sound, while discarding porous or cracked sections.4:35 The design features a narrow, canoe-like shape to navigate rapids and allow for manual portage in shallow sections.5:04 They lash the bamboo together using rope and three cross-braces.5:30 After launching, the crew navigates the river, encountering marshy, gas-emitting terrain and dense vegetation.10:02 As sunset approaches, they abandon the raft to reach a nearby road, dismantling the structure to recover the rope.10:45 They avoid high-cost taxi services by coordinating a pickup with acquaintances met at a local harbor.12:34 The excursion concludes near a structure identified as El Sombrero, where the crew cleans off in a stream.13:42
