What this video covers
Ola and Caroline, a couple completing a three-year circumnavigation, discuss their transition from full-time cruising back to Norway.3:38 They emphasize that successful long-term voyaging requires breaking a large trip into manageable legs rather than viewing it as a single, daunting endeavor.6:28 To manage costs and maintain self-sufficiency, they rely on fishing for protein and prioritize systems like watermakers and wind generators to minimize reliance on expensive marinas.10:18 They stress the importance of proactive maintenance, noting that identifying and fixing minor issues before they escalate prevents costly repairs and enhances safety.10:52 When seeking advice from other cruisers, they recommend vetting sources to ensure their preferred cruising style—whether marina-based or remote anchoring—aligns with your own.8:03 They conclude that while they plan to return to Norway to work and reconnect with family, they remain open to building a larger boat for future voyages.4:09
