What this video covers
Ivo and Dajana, currently anchored in Panama City after transiting the Panama Canal, are searching for a compact washing machine to install aboard their 31-year-old sailboat.Watch After four years of cruising, the couple seeks to improve their autonomy and comfort, as laundry services have become increasingly expensive and scarce in remote regions like the San Blas Islands.1:02 The primary challenge involves finding a unit that fits through the boat's narrow companionway and interior spaces, which are restricted by existing cabinetry, plumbing, and electrical wiring. Measurements indicate a maximum clearance of 63 cm for the companionway and approximately 53 cm for potential interior mounting locations.7:21 The pair plans to visit local electronics retailers in Panama City to find a machine that meets these strict dimensional constraints while maintaining low power consumption.7:56 The search also includes a visit to the Miraflores Visitor Center, where they observed the lock operations and ship-towing locomotives of the original Panama Canal.9:23
