DIY Electric Motorcycle Conversion #3 | Frame painting gone wrong !

12 August 2020 · 4 min · 610 views

What this video covers

Paulo attempts to paint the frame of an electric motorcycle but fails when the new paint reacts with the existing finish, causing the surface to bubble. Rushing the preparation process by only sanding the frame instead of stripping it completely leads to the chemical incompatibility. To correct the error, he uses a paint remover to strip the frame down to bare metal. After cleaning the surface thoroughly, he applies a new coat of paint, which cures without further reaction. The project moves toward the assembly phase for the motorcycle. Taking the time to strip a frame to bare metal prevents chemical reactions between incompatible paint layers.
