What this video covers

Tomas and Agus of the 46-foot sailboat Bohemia replace an undersized, two-year-old Genoa with a custom-designed sail from SeaSails.0:15 The previous sail, purchased as an emergency replacement after a storm, was sized for a 40-foot vessel, leaving the tack 1.2 metres above the drum and resulting in poor performance over 7,000 nautical miles.1:18 To ensure the new sail fits correctly, the crew measures the rig using a tape measure and a guide provided by the manufacturer.3:14 They determine the "Max Hoist" by attaching a tape measure to the deck and hoisting it to the top of the furler, using a line to maintain tension.4:52 They measure the "J" dimension by running the tape from the tack shackle to the mast.6:12 Finally, they verify the luff tape diameter using a 5mm drill bit to match the furler groove.6:35 After submitting these measurements and consulting with the sail designer on material and UV protection colour, they install and sea-trial the new, properly sized Genoa.10:20
