HOW TO SPLICE DOUBLE-BRAIDED POLYESTER LINES WITH CORE AND COVER FOR SAILING⛵

What this video covers
Splicing double-braided polyester line requires a fid set, scissors, and a marker to create a secure eye splice. Begin by tying a tight knot in the line approximately two to three meters from the intended splice location to prevent movement. Use the fid to measure and mark four distinct points on the line to determine the size of the eye. Extract the inner core from the outer cover at the designated exit point by carefully spreading the cover strands without breaking them. Use a smaller fid to feed the core back into the cover, then use a larger fid to insert the cover into the core. Taper the end of the cover by removing excess strands before pulling it into the core to ensure a smooth transition. Finally, "milk" the line by working the cover and core back into their original positions, a process that requires significant manual effort and patience. Massaging the finished splice softens the line and ensures the eye remains solid.
