What this video covers

While sailing from Vigo to Peniche, the crew of SV Cordelia discovered their lazarette was one-third full of water.19:00 The flooding originated from a blocked drain in the lazarette, where a disintegrating cardboard box housing a Fortress anchor had clogged the scupper.19:14 After manually bucketing out the water, the crew identified a secondary, more critical issue: a leak in the exhaust system.19:28 The blockage in the lazarette had caused water to backfill into the exhaust pipe, which became apparent when a large jet of water ejected from the exhaust during a previous engine start at a fuel pontoon in Cascais.20:10 The crew also replaced a faulty rudder angle transducer on their autopilot after wiring chafed through in the engine room, forcing them to hand-steer for 24 hours.5:07 The incident highlights the importance of investigating unusual boat noises immediately and removing all cardboard from storage lockers to prevent drain obstructions.
