What this video covers

Constructing a soft shackle with an integrated low-friction ring requires approximately two meters of Dyneema line, a low-friction ring, splicing needles, and 1.5mm waxed cord for an optional opening pull-tab.▶ 2:06 To begin, fold the Dyneema line in half and use a fid or splicing needle to open the fibers at the midpoint, inserting the low-friction ring into the center of the line.▶ 2:46 Create the shackle body by passing the standing part through the working part, then use a Mobius-style twist to encapsulate the ring securely within the shackle. Once the ring is captured, perform a diamond knot at the end of the shackle to create the locking stopper.▶ 9:35 For the optional opening tab, splice a short length of waxed cord into the shackle body using the same technique, finishing it with a miniature diamond knot.▶ 15:12 Trim excess line and sear the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying.▶ 12:59 This versatile accessory functions as both a standard soft shackle and a fairlead for lines like boom preventers or gennaker sheets.▶ 22:59
