What this video covers
New sails for Magic Carpet, a refitted vessel currently moored at Gabriola Island, arrived via international shipping. The crew installed the headsails, noting the quality of the custom-made sails ordered through email communication and measurements. A mainsail installation remains pending due to required hardware assembly. While waiting for settled weather to pattern a new dodger, the crew collaborated with a guest, Simon, who fabricated a custom cushion for a removable settee extension using sew foam, a low-density open-cell material with a scrim backing. Simon also created a plastic template for the future dodger, which the crew will fit upon returning to the island in the fall. During their stay in Silva Bay, the crew hosted friends and sailed aboard the vessel Tally Ho. The crew plans to install the mainsail and conduct sea trials in the Gulf Islands before beginning a northern voyage along the British Columbia coastline.
