Boat propeller spins beneath green harbor water surface

What this video covers

The crew of a Tayana 47 CC completes an engine refit in Hout Bay, South Africa, installing a new Yanmar 4JH110.6:07 Because the engine mounts for the new motor were originally configured for a sail drive, the crew replaces them with mounts suitable for a direct drive and shims the engine 20mm to achieve proper alignment.0:46 They use a laser alignment tool to verify the shaft and gearbox coupling, achieving tolerances within 0.3mm.2:48 To protect the drivetrain from vibration and minor alignment discrepancies, they install a Sigma Drive, which requires a custom stainless steel adapter plate to bridge the bolt-pattern mismatch between the drive and the ZF30 gearbox.12:01 After finalizing the installation, the crew checks the clearance of the feathering propeller against the P-bracket to ensure the new coupling position does not cause interference in reverse.14:22 Additional final preparations include reinforcing the rod kicker attachment point on the boom and adjusting the rig tension by drilling new holes in the forestay chainplates.16:30
