After removing the deckhouse to facilitate the extraction of large furnishings, he systematically disassembles the galley, berths, and bar structure. The engine, identified as a potential VW diesel, remains exposed for future assessment. During the removal of the port-side berth, heavy adhesive and hidden fasteners cause the destruction of a teak mattress support. A copper stovepipe on the coal stove resists removal, and the stove base cracks during the process. To support the rebuild, Joshua secures a dry storage area and a heated boiler room for use as a workshop. He receives a set of vintage Japanese chisels from a donor to assist with the woodworking. The project requires a slow, methodical approach to preserve original woodwork and reverse-engineer the original installation sequence. Patience and careful disassembly prevent further damage to aging, delaminated plywood and brittle teak components.
