Sabina and her crew sailed the Squib from the Danube River mouth into the Black Sea on 16 September 2025. Before departure, the crew cleared a clogged head pump caused by water plants.▶ 1:07 Navigating the river mouth required crossing shallow sandbanks with depths as low as 2.5 metres.▶ 2:18 Once clear of the river, the vessel encountered 8 to 10 knots of wind from the quarter, accompanied by dolphins, before motoring through the night to reach Mangalia at 05:15.▶ 2:50 The crew currently waits in Mangalia for favourable weather to continue their passage toward the Bosphorus.▶ 3:18 They plan to depart early Thursday morning, utilising the coastal wind shadow to minimise wave height before turning south-southeast.▶ 3:20 The crew has adjusted their Windpilot self-steering system in anticipation of forecasted 20 to 25-knot northwesterly winds.▶ 3:41
