What this video covers
Johan prepares the keel recess for a custom boat build by routing flat mounting surfaces into the temporary frames to accommodate a 20mm-thick stainless steel keel plate.1:28 To ensure structural integrity and prevent water intrusion into the timber core, the design replaces the sandwich construction with a solid glass laminate at the keel attachment point.3:50 The recess width tapers from 516mm at the rear to 316mm at the front to accommodate the hull's curvature without creating excessively deep flat spots.5:54 After routing, the area is lined with spruce planks to serve as a temporary base for vacuum bagging the solid laminate.4:53 Separately, the project reaches a milestone with the final ripping and planing of 528 meters of cedar strips, sufficient to complete the hull planking.10:27 The work also includes the installation of a Luba robotic mower for the farm and visits to the Hallberg-Rassy shipyard in Sweden to inspect the construction of a 69-foot yacht.11:33
