What this video covers

The crew of the wooden boat Yabá installs three 1.5-inch through-hull fittings and a 24-volt lithium battery bank while undergoing a refit at a shipyard in Brazil. To install the through-hulls, the crew uses sealant and elbow connectors to navigate tight spaces behind the beam shelf, requiring the removal of internal battens. The electrical project involves connecting four 12-volt Battle Born batteries in a series-parallel configuration to create a 24-volt system. Using 120mm tinned copper wire, the crew ensures identical cable lengths between each battery and the system to maintain balanced resistance. After aligning custom bus bars and torquing the connections, the system successfully powers the boat's lighting, marking the transition from shore power to an independent battery bank. Additionally, the crew applies primer to the sacrificial keel and prepares the hull for anti-fouling paint.
