What this video covers
The crew of NV, a converted Open 66 racing yacht, has extensively modified the vessel’s interior to transition from a stripped-out racer to a liveaboard cruiser. During a refit in Fiji, the owners removed original water ballast tanks to create storage and living space, reinforcing the remaining bulkheads with carbon fiber and fiberglass to maintain structural integrity. The galley now features a U-shaped layout with a custom countertop, a foot-pump salt water tap, and a fridge-freezer unit. The saloon includes a folding carbon-fiber table and modular benches that convert into sleeping berths. For navigation and sleeping, the crew installed adjustable pipe berths that pivot to remain level while the boat heels at 45 degrees. The forward section contains a workshop and a custom-built bathroom, which doubles as a sail locker, constructed using foam and recycled surfboard materials. The engine room remains accessible for maintenance, housing the inverter, battery chargers, and hydraulic systems.
