What do we do in case of hypothermia? #Alegriamarineros

What this video covers
To treat hypothermia, rescuers must build a multi-layer "hypothermia wrap" to prevent heat loss through radiation, conduction, convection, and evaporation. First, remove wet clothing if possible, or replace it with a thin, dry base layer to avoid excessive exposure. Place the patient on an insulating mat, such as a foam pad, to prevent heat loss to the deck or ground via conduction. Wrap the patient in a thermal aluminized emergency blanket with the reflective side facing inward to trap body heat lost through radiation. Add a sleeping bag or thick blanket over the emergency blanket to block convection and retain warmth. Finally, enclose the entire assembly in a plastic or nylon sheet to provide a moisture barrier and wind protection. For advanced hypothermia, add external heat sources like warm water bottles, ensuring they do not contact the skin directly to prevent burns. Covering the head with a hat is essential, as significant body heat escapes through the scalp. Proper insulation and layering effectively stabilize core temperature in emergency situations.
