The Shannon Yachts 37 is a 1985–1993 masthead ketch designed by Walter Shultz, built by Shannon Yachts, and is a redesign of the Shannon 38. With an LOA of 11.5 meters, a beam of 3.5 meters, and a displacement of 7937 kg, it features a keel/centerboard hull. Aboard *SV Landfall*, a Shannon Yachts 37, the crew uses a semi-custom rig with twin headstays, a 160% genoa, and a high-cut yankee with a self-tacking staysail.0:35 All sail controls, including reefing and furling, lead to the cockpit for short-handed sailing.2:02 For ocean passages, the crew runs the yankee at night and uses a second-reef main to balance the boat.2:14 To manage bow weight, the owners replaced 5/16-inch chain with 1/4-inch chain and remove the 85-pound CQR anchor during passages.4:20 The vessel is equipped with dorade boxes, a custom hard dodger, a wind vane, and a Watt & Sea hydrogenerator.5:33 Below deck, the galley is designed for bracing in heavy seas, and the owners installed a self-built lithium battery bank.9:14
