Refinishing the teak on the S/V SeaSprite involves stripping and sanding the cockpit coaming boards, the eyebrow, and the toe rail.0:35 After initial sanding with 120-grit paper, the coaming boards required an 80-grit pass to remove remaining varnish before finishing with 120-grit.2:46 The cockpit cubbies and radiuses were sanded by hand.3:04 The project includes installing midship cleats into the toe rail to improve spring line handling, addressing a design oversight that previously forced the use of shrouds or cockpit winches for mooring.1:36 The mast and boom were moved to the Phipps Footworks shed for painting.2:17 Additional upgrades include replacing old plastic cockpit drains with new bronze units from Spartan and installing mid-rail chocks.4:31 Old adhesive sealant was removed from the starboard side coaming area in preparation for final cleaning with acetone and subsequent varnishing.4:05
