The Tayana 58DS is a Peter Beeldsnijder-designed cutter-rigged sailboat built by Ta Yang Yacht Building Co. in Taiwan since 2000, sharing its hull with the original Tayana 55. It has a fin keel with a rudder on a skeg, measures 16.8 m LOA, 4.9 m beam, and 2.0 m draft, displacing 21953 kg. The model is available in both keel/centerboard and deep draft versions. Aboard *Flight Level Zero*, a 2006 Tayana 58DS in San Diego was evaluated for liveaboard suitability, noting its enclosed engine room, standing headroom, and walk-around master berth.23:19 However, the vessel's teak decks required an estimated $50,000 to $55,000 for replacement, and corrosion was observed on the heat exchanger.24:35 The laundry area was deemed poorly integrated, and the interior space felt less efficient than a Beneteau 57, despite similar dimensions.26:27
