The Blue JACKET 40 is a fractional sloop designed by Tim Jackett and Robert K. Johnson, built by Blue Jacket Yachts from 2012 to the present. It features a fin with bulb and spade rudder hull, measures 12.1 meters LOA with a 3.8-meter beam, and has a 2.3-meter draft. The boat displaces 7484 kg. A shallow draft version is available with a 1.56-meter draft.7:38 The designer, Robert K. Johnson, previously founded Island Packet Yachts in 1979, where he developed a full-foil keel design using NACA airfoil sections for tracking stability and gentle motion, a departure from the fin-keel trend of the late 1970s. Island Packet's construction involved a one-piece, hand-laminated solid fiberglass hull-and-keel molding without keel bolts, triaxial knitted laminate, and a Polyclad gel coat system.
