The Galion 22 is a 6.7-meter fractional sloop designed by Ian Hannay and built by several manufacturers including Hannay Marine Ltd and Jeremy Rogers, with production beginning in 1965. This fin-keeled sailboat with a spade rudder has a 2.2-meter beam, a 1.0-meter draft, and displaces 1587 kg.0:53 In 1968, a Galion 22 skippered by designer Ian Hannay won both the Round the Island Race and the JOG Single-handed Race. Aboard Sailing Gently, a long-term cruiser began his sailing experience with a Galion 22 in the Solent, later transitioning to larger vessels for offshore passages.5:15
