The Hobie 3.5 is a 3.5-meter catamaran designed by Hobie Alter and built by Hobie Cat from 1975 to 1979. Also known as the Hobie 11, it is a scaled-down version of the Hobie 14, intended for sailors under 140 pounds. The boat shares its rotating spar cat rig, rudders, mast, and mast step with the Monocat 12. Its wooden rudders feature a distinct rudder casting locking system.3:44 With a beam of 1.8 meters and a displacement of 72 kg, the Hobie 3.5 is considerably narrower than the Hobie 14, a design choice made to facilitate easier righting after a capsize.
