The Hobie TIGER 18 is a 5.5-meter fractional sloop catamaran with a rotating spar, twin daggerboards, and an asymmetric spinnaker, designed to the Formula 18 rule. Built by Hobie Cat Europe and Hobie Cat, it was first produced in France in 1995 and introduced in the US in 2001, though it is no longer sold there. The boat displaces 180 kg, has a beam of 2.6 meters, and a draft of 0.7 meters.26:10 Aboard Sam Holmes Sailing, Joe Bennett demonstrated spinnaker handling on a Hobie TIGER 18, noting that power management on a beach catamaran relies on steering adjustments relative to the wind angle rather than mainsheet trimming.28:08
